Luke Casey
Luke Casey was born and brought up in the English port city of Plymouth. After studying with the intention of becoming a journalist, Casey left the UK upon graduation and moved to rural Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. Casey began to take pictures of the Japanese countryside, and what started as a passion quickly developed into a calling.

In 2012, after volunteering for the Japanese NGO Peace Boat and disembarking in Tokyo, Casey hitch hiked through Japan and Korea before moving to Hong Kong where he now lives and works as a photographer. Casey is noted for choosing to use traditional photographic techniques, shooting mainly on film for his own photographic art projects. In November 2013, Casey was invited to exhibit a selection of his works in the Hong Kong based gallery Time and Space, the porthole series proving particularly successful with buyers.

Returning to the UK, Casey worked at the BBC, Channel 4 and Nippon TV but never felt satisfied. A speculative approach to Dazed & Confused secured Casey his first photo shoot and he hasn’t looked back since. Whilst in London, Casey did ongoing work with Dazed & Confused as well as Vice and Intersection.

Casey is also recognised for his commercial work in digital photography and filmmaking, commissioned on projects for various brands and organizations, most recently directing and producing a promotional film for the Marriott hotel as well as luxury jewellery brand John Hardy.
